According to the researchers, a cat’s condition can be determined by the way its head, ears, whiskers, and how tense its muzzle and eyes are. The assessment for each of these components of the cat’s “portrait”, established by experts, is made on a 2-point scale. For example, if the whiskers are completely relaxed, a 0 is given. If they are extremely tense, 2 is assigned. In the aggregate for all parameters can be a maximum of 10 points.
Scientists say that if the total score exceeds 3, it is a clear signal that a veterinarian should be consulted immediately.
